I really am liking working with Luminar3 the more I use it though. Really didn't want to use Bridge but if it works well I guess I'll go with it. I think I may have looked at Photo Sweeper, but will try that one more time along with the other choices. If I want to compare the first and the 8th image back and forth I'd have to mess around with ratings and limiting visible images in FastRawViewer. It was able to maintain zoom flipping between images (good) but what really makes SnapSelect useful for me, is I can zoom a pair of images into 100 or 200% (or more) and then pan around both images with the view locked between them - also SnapSelect has a nice mode where you can stay on one image while you scroll through others in the other viewing pane, quickly taking on a new one as your locked choice as you browse the rest. I tried FastRawViewer, but not only was its browsing to the directory I wanted to see rather slow, it could not read a directory of 16-bit TIFF files, so it's right out.įast Raw Viewer was also slower than Luminar 3 at browsing a directory of raw files or JPG files. Hmm, do not remember LR Classic being able to do that, perhaps I'll try Lightroom again. Fast Raw Viewer is built around a single view, but it's so fast that it's pretty easy to switch back and forth between images to be able to say pick out ones you want, esp if you turn on the filters that help visualize over or under exposure and lack of focus. With more views, and you can add metadata and view it, and it's free. Bridge is the fastest, and you can compare say 3 or more, which is handy for brackets. Two images side by side? Photo Sweeper (which you might like if you have SnapSelect, since it has similar features, but is still being developed, Bridge, Lr Classic, and probably more I can't think of. I don't even use it for it's primary feature, finding similar images - I just want a tool that lets me compare two (or more!) images quickly both for fine details in selection location, and overall composition. If you have a suggestion for any other application that lets you zoom into two images side by side easily I'm all ears. Apollo One is the only other one that lets you see matches to one particular star rating only. Dunno about Photos they dropped star ratings and dunno if they ever came back.īy *exact* star ratings? Like "only three-star images, no higher, no lower" - All apps I've seen with filtering (again except for Aperture) go for "this rating or higher". Graphic Converter, both Lr variants, Bridge, Lyn, Capture One, Picktorial, Mylio, Fast Raw Viewer, etc etc. I'd say most photo software will let you rate and then filter by rating. What other software lets you look at exact star ratings? That's actually a kind of strange filtering, I'm pretty sure Aperture could do it as it was king of filtering. Hmm, That's a lot of faffing about to get around what is clearly deficiencies in the software. Yes, just X-Stars and above - but you can also mark an image with one of five colors, or set it as a pick, and look at images with only those values. From what I have seen, it can only do x-Stars and above, and not just x-Stars.
